tAMan TAsIk TaipiNg.....

Located on the road to the Zoo, the Taiping Lake

Gardens were originally a tin mining site before

it was established as gardens to the public in

1880. The idea of establishing a public garden

was much devoted to Colonel Robert Sandilands

Frowd Walker. The garden was later developed

precisely by Charles Compton Reade (1884 –

1933), who was also responsible for

planning the Kuala Lumpur garden town. At 222

acres, the gardens are the biggest urban

parkland in Malaysia and contain a total of 8

lakes and are really beautiful.

The clean and well-maintained Lake Garden encompasses a lake, a recreational park and a Japanese garden. Together with the nearby golf course and zoo, this whole area forms the green lung of Taiping.

Taiping Lake Garden is a favorite spot for fitness fanatics who can be seen walking or jogging along special tracks in the wee hours of sunrise and just before dusk. It is a favorite picnic spot as well.

On weekend, drove of visitors from other parts of Perak, Penang, and Kedah arrive here through their own transport or by chartered buses, lending a carnival like atmosphere to the Taiping Lake Garden.
